When back in 2004 we decided to place Portugal in the World Sailing Circuit, at a match race level, we were certain to be contributing to enrich our biggest asset – the sea.
We created a new brand, We Sail, aimed to developing projects and sailing competitions.

In partnership with My Change, we promote the knowledge development and teambuilding through sailing, contributing to change management within organizations.

We also develop national and international team training programs, discovering new talents, thereby contributing to the development of sailing.

The infrastructure, Troia’s mild climate and a unique regatta field, with a fleet of 6 SM40 boats and all the logistic support, fulfil the necessary conditions for We Sail’s a full activity throughout the year.

This initiative is proof of Portugal’s great vocation to meet the World across the seas.

team training

Once you have some experience, but want to know what it takes to become a winner, we organize the appropriate program for further success in your races.
The training will help improve technique, learn to anticipate and coordinate your proficiency in order to reach the lead in a race, focusing several aspects, such as relaying sails to maximize boat speed.

Having the opportunity to rotate roles to experience different positions and understand how they all work together, you will maximize learning opportunities, striving for better performances, gaining confidence and winning challenges, both physical and emotional.
This training allows the discovery of new talents and the value of teamwork.

Match race is a sailing race between two competitors going head-to-head, meaning that the racing is in fact a duel between two equal boats. It requires not only skilful crews, but also tactically smart in the conduct of the struggle boat to boat.

The aim of each competitor is actually quite straight forward, going across the finishing line first with no penalties, having started correctly and done the full course.
Match race has a crucial component, being one of the objectives to force the other boat to make mistakes and be penalized.

The races have direct arbitration with the umpires applying “instant justice” on the water.

Optimize this technique sailing with professional skippers, developing the knowledge in this most exciting sailing racing.

team training

By its own nature, sailing encourages trust and strengthens relations.
In a unique and innovative experience, sea activities place participants in adverse situations, giving the opportunity to overcome their limits and challenges, creating a series of learning and results.

It is a natural team building activity therefore promotes unity and communication with clear roles and responsibilities which are essential features for an efficient management, improving specific relationships.
Together we will tailor a program according to the objectives of each company.

The approach LEARNING BY SAILING is a result of the partnership between WE SAIL and MY CHANGE: "When we go out of our normal work space, we are more awake to new concepts and we establish, in a natural way, different interactions than the usual ones."
This approach has the following objectives:

  • Promote a reflection about teamwork and complementary profiles with the support of Ned Herrmann´s Brain preferences´ Model;
  • A strong experience through the nautical metaphor - understand and practice the key variables of teamwork, the communication oriented to results and the alignment of multidisciplinary teams;
  • Strengthen ties of closeness and cohesion among the participants.

In sailing competitions participants are exposed to adversity situations, having the opportunity to exceed expectations and overcome challenges with a series of results and learning activities. It is a unique and intense experience that combines challenge and adventure. The characteristics of SM40 vessels promote participation and teamwork. To overcome the challenges of sailing, the strategy, the decision, the teamwork and the team unity are critical success factors.

The Swedish Match 40 was created by the legendary Swedish designer Pelle Petterson, who designed and helmed the Sweden’s “Sveridge”, challenger for America’s Cup in 1977 and 1980.
Petterson’s brief was to create a boat capable to achieve spectacular performances.

The SM40 has a striking resemblance to an America’s Cup mono hull class, it is slab-sided, narrow and has a large sail plan. The cockpit is wide open and runs nearly half the length of the boat. Besides the halyards, many control lines are also led to the pit area.
